Wimberley Wedding - Day 2

Wimberley Wedding - Day 2

The mister and I woke the next day surprisingly refreshed and ready for another day of celebration.  We awoke to a stunningly beautiful day.  We took our coffee out to the back porch and slowly soaked in the surrounding nature and nibbled on oatmeal.  After catching up with Collin's parents and deciding the plan for the day we headed inside to get ready.

We all piled into the car and drove into town.  We headed into a local eatery called the Cypress Grill for an early lunch because honestly oatmeal just doesn't cut it for me in terms of filling me up.  Some of Collin's cousins were already finished with their breakfast so we sidled up to their table and drug a few chairs over.  The servers didn't seem to mind.  We had missed the breakfast menu by about 30 minutes but not to worry I can always find something that looks delectable.  I decided to get the chicken quesadilla and Collin ordered a bacon turkey sandwich on herbed focaccia bread.  The food was excellent and they didn't even scrimp on the guacamole or sour cream - a pet peeve of ours.  Collin's sandwich was out of this world so of course he let me have a few bites.  I stole a couple of fries too.  After eating our fill we headed out into the glorious sunshine with shopping in mind.  The guys were understandably not as enthused as me but alas they dutifully strolled along.  I popped in a few shops but didn't really find anything that suited my fancy.  Collin and I found a cute dress shop but nothing to buy.  We walked along the square a bit more ducking in and out of antique shops, vintage boot stores, and a jewelry store that I fell in love with.  I had to drag myself away from a gorgeous rose gold ring that was dainty and fit me perfectly.  Much to Collin's delight I walked away from the jewelry store empty handed.

We found a perfect spot to perch ourselves under the shade of a beautiful oak tree (at least I think it was an oak tree).  Of course after seeing a frozen yogurt store nearby we had to pop in.  The Wooden Spoon is an adorable small town frozen yogurt joint with enough toppings to make anyone happy.  The wooden floors and beams gave it small town charm.  We enjoyed our treat under the shade of the oak tree.

After relaxing and enjoying our dessert we all decided to hop back in the car for a quick drive to the Blue Hole.  The last time I was at the Blue Hole I was in diapers and Collin had never been so it was a new experience for both of us.  The Blue Hole is similar to Barton Springs for those of you that have visited the popular swimming hole in Austin.  I must say the Blue Hole is much better in every way.  The scenery is beautiful, the grounds are lush and green and the water a beautiful bluish-green.  The water is a crisp 72 degrees which doesn't seem very cold but oh boy was it chilly.  I got about ankle deep before deciding that was definitely enough cold water for me.  Collin found the rope swing immediately and jumped in line.  I took enough pictures that we could recreate every jump Collin made and his dad took an awesome video of his Tarzan skills.  We lounged on the grass and enjoyed the sunshine.

After dousing ourselves in chilly water one more time we reluctantly packed our things and headed back to the car.  Anywhere you drive around Wimberley there are sights to see.  I saw at least one deer grazing in someone's front yard each time we headed back to the house.  Collin and I immediately fell asleep for a quick nap before the wedding festivities.  Waking refreshed and replenished we got our party clothes on, prepped, and primped and headed back out to Old Glory Ranch.

The wedding ceremony was held in a rustic church which was glowing with candles and bursting at the seams with bouquets of blush colored roses.  The ceremony began right at 6:30 p.m. and the eleven bridesmaids and eight groomsmen made their entrance.  The bride was gorgeous in a mermaid wedding dress and was escorted by her proud father.  The ceremony was sweet and full of memories and love.  They were announced as man and wife and were all smiles as they walked down the aisle to Michael Buble's Everything - great song to end a wedding ceremony.

The chapel was going to be converted to the reception area so everyone headed out the doors to the pre-party outside.  I grabbed a glass of Pinot, Collin grabbed a beer and we then heard there were donkeys at this shin dig.  So, of course, we had to see for ourselves.  And sure enough...there were two donkeys that had been decorated with colorful flowers and were walking around with beer in their saddlebags.  You don't see that everyday.  We nibbled on hors d'oeuvres that were being presented on silver trays and had a drink or two.  Collin and I took another stroll around the grounds and reminisced about our own wedding.  With the wedding pictures complete everyone was ready to eat (hey that rhythms!).  They served pepper crusted beef medallions, strawberry and feta salad, grilled vegetables and my absolute favorite part of the meal - macaroni and cheese!

After finishing up dinner we headed inside just as they were starting the speeches.  The best man and matron of honor regaled us with tales of their friendships and love for the bride and groom.  We toasted with bubbly champagne and got ready to party.  The live band started up and didn't stop for hours.  Now I am always a little wary of live bands at weddings but these guys blew me away.  They are called The Pictures and they can sing anything.  And I mean anything.  She belted out Beyonce and he crooned like Frank Sinatra.  They played all genres which really gets the party going.  We danced until close to 1 a.m. and the bride and groom took off in a bright white classic pickup truck.  Perfect way to end a Texas wedding.

Collin and I fell into bed exhausted.  Our feet and legs were wobbly from dancing all night.  Fabulous wedding with fabulous friends.

Final wedding weekend post will be up tomorrow.  Stay tuned!
